The CEE Infrastructure Development Council is a dedicated body within GLOBSEC, focused on fostering public-private collaborations (PPCs) to address key infrastructure and policy challenges. By promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors, the Council aims to drive economic growth, enhance sustainability, and ensure regional stability.

Why is the Council Needed?

Europe and the world have faced significant economic disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine. These crises have strained global supply chains, increased government spending, and heightened national debts. Additionally, to address the investment gap that CEE countries face compared to their Western counterparts, the Central and Eastern European governments need to stimulate economic growth, strengthen fiscal policies, reduce reliance on Russian energy, and achieve green transition goals. Effective public-private collaboration is crucial for addressing these challenges and preventing political instability.

Key Objectives

  • Build Connections: Develop lasting relationships with public sector officials at all levels across the region.

  • Provide Guidance: Help governments understand and manage PPC projects, including setting up dedicated PPC units.

  • Identify Projects: Find potential public infrastructure projects, such as transportation and healthcare facilities.

  • Lead Discussions: Facilitate conversations about PPC financing among experts and the public.

  • Share Best Practices: Create forums to exchange knowledge and best practices on PPC projects.

  • Foster Partnerships: Promote collaborative partnerships that emphasize shared risk management and innovative solutions.

  • Focus on Green Transition: Prioritize investments in green economy initiatives and reduce dependency on Russian energy resources.
