GLOBSEC 2019 Bratislava Forum Hosted Groundbreaking, First-ever Crisis Cyber Simulation Exercise
The first-ever cyber crisis simulation exercise at the GLOBSEC Bratislava 2019 Forum, called "Disruptive Dilemmas," took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, on June 6, 2019. ‘The exercise was hosted by the GLOBSEC 2019 Bratislava Forum and co-sponsored by, Oppenhuizen Law Firm, PLC; NATO; Global Cyber Alliance; and European Cyber Resilience Research Network.
Using a series of real-world crisis simulations, the side event encouraged participants to use both cognitive and emotional intelligence to formulate solutions for a variety of complex, hypothetical cyber crises. The simulations covered the following topics:
- Disruption by Sea: Mitigating the Risks Associated with the Use of Cyber and Artificial Intelligence in Managing the Refugee Crisis;
- Conquering Domestic and International Cybersecurity Challenges Presented by Foreign Investments in SMEs;
- Addressing and Augmenting Brain Drain and other Cyber Workforce Development Challenges; and
- Leveraging the Capabilities of Cyber and AI in the Battle against Disinformation and Foreign Election Interference.
The proposed solutions for the simulations will be published in a white paper in late 2019.
The side event was organized by the transatlantic steering committee consisting of co-chair, Nadja El Fertasi, former Senior Executive at NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) and CEO/Founder of Nadja El Fertasi, EQ (Emotional Intelligence) Coaching and Consulting, co-chair Keerthika M.
