Barry C. Lynn

Barry C. Lynn is a pioneer in writing about America’s new monopolies, and the dangers they pose to personal liberty, democracy, communities, and national security. His work on international supply chain fragility has been widely studied in Europe, Asia, and throughout the U.S. government. His work demonstrating how Platform Monopolies like Facebook and Amazon threaten the free flow of information and ideas has deeply influenced both European and American competition authorities. Lynn is author of Cornered: The New Monopoly Capitalism and the Economics of Destruction (Wiley 2009) and End of the Line: The Rise and Coming Fall of the Global Corporation (Doubleday 2005). Lynn’s work has been profiled in the New York Times, The Financial Times, The New Yorker, and on CBS. His articles have appeared in Harper’s, Harvard Business Review, and Foreign Policy. He has worked extensively with leading politicians of both parties, at both the federal and state levels. Lynn directs the Open Markets Program at the New America think tank in Washington. Prior to joining New America, Lynn was executive editor of Global Business Magazine. He was born and raised in Miami.
